Latest news about the progress of the Neighbourhood Development Plan

Alwoodley Allotments Update 2

The allotment association now has anew name: the Alwoodley Allotment Society! It is well into phase II - They opened the field on Saturday and Sunday to allow members to meet each other, gaze upon their land, choose their plots, pay the rental fee and sign the tenancy agreement.

It was a fantastic weekend - full of enthusiasm and loads of friendly chat. Some came back armed with tools and string or tape to identify ‘Their Domain’; some even brought lawn mowers, some as you can see had different priorities.

There is still much work to do getting the various planned facilities in place but given the gorgeous weather we’re enjoying, they sensibly thought it a shame not to get on with preparing the plots before winter sets in, ready for an early start to planting and growing next year.

There will be an official opening in spring with tape cutting and the rest and the team is looking forward to showing off the progress made to councillors (Alwoodley and Leeds City) and to the parish residents.

They still have some plots available and everyone is welcome to apply.
